Back to Running :-)

Several days ago I woke up to an ice storm....and today we has near 70 degree weather! Since 1995, Roanoke has been developing a series of greenways that eventually will connect throughout the valley.
Piedmont Park, which runs along the Roanoke River parallel to Piedmont Avenue and Route 116 recently opened. The balmy weather gave me the opportunity to explore this latest greenway addition and get some much needed exercise. I recently joined a local gym to use in inclement weather but have been reluctant to run in my neighborhood streets after the latest hit and run episode of a local runner.

Views along the way.... This little cabin faces the river adjacent to the river and I can spot it from the windows at work. I often dream about having such a space for quiet, creative time...

In honor of Found Clothing, I snapped this photo of a discarded pair of pants. Was someone wearing two pairs in the earlier wintery weather and left an outer pair in the spring-like weather?

I ran/walked 4.5 miles and plan to return to this part of the greenway and also explore other sections as the weather permits.

I've Heard the Mermaids Singing is one of my favorite films. Luckily I found it at the library the other day and finally have the opportunity to view it once again with and without the director's commentary.

Lesson Learned

When asked in the professional setting how you are doing - the only correct answer is "Fine." Repeat after me, "I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine." Any other response, particularly an honest, heartfelt one, promises you upheaval in your life. Do not confuse work friends with confidants.

Edith Piaf knitting...

In La Vie en Rose, the actress portraying Edith Piaf is seen knitting throughout the film - now I find a photo of Edith Piaf knitting while in the hospital - she was certainly dedicated. I particularly like the scene in the movie where she performs wearing a sweater with a partly completed sleeve. I suppose she may have knitted by necessity as well as for the calming effect of the rhythmic motions and the meditative qualities.

My blogging has been hit or miss lately due to a poorly functioning computer...well, I purchased a new one 12/26....this Microsoft Vista is much different than the previous versions .... but my blogging should be more regular...
